Retouche spécialisée et/ou chaîne de ravivage ? Les « racloirs » moustériens de la Grotta Breuil (Monte Circeo, Italie)

Flat-retouched lithic implements from a Mousterian site in Grotta Breuil (Circeo, Italy) are analyzed by micro- and macro-wear analyses and experimental technology as well. The aim is to understand the functional and technological relationship between the butchering activities and the flat-retouched implements which represent the only lithic category at Grotta Breuil, where butchering traces have been found. Two possibilities can be investigated : 1) Is this kind of retouch a specialized one ? 2) Is it the onset of a rejuvenation chain ? The authors favour an intermediate hypothesis linked to the low productivity of local raw material.
