This paper, on female quail, completes a previous report on males (see Cah. Ethol.Appl., 1986, 6 (2) : 185-208). In both sexes, as the birds grew older, the level of activities ensuring interindividual cohesion, like twitters, decreased and those inducing spacing between birds, like withdrawal or aggression, increased. Four developmental stages were characterized by comparing the synchronous development of sexual morphological features and of social behaviour. contrary to what reported for males, sexual development due to an increasing photophase was not associated with the emergence of new vocalizations linked with female social behaviour. on the other hand, specialized sexual solicitations appeared during sexual maturation : peering with sinuous neck, passing under the male's breast, gentle ritual attack. A stable interindividual diversity of the quality and the quantity of calls produced by females was also observed. Nous avons voulu réaliser une étude longitudinale des modifications des comportements gestuels et vocaux qui accompagnent le développement sexuel chez la caille japonaise. Ce travail, sur les femelles, complète celui précédemment publié sur les mâles (cf. Cah. Ethol. Appl., 1986, 6 (2) : 185-208). Pour les deux sexes, nous observons, avec le vieillissement de l'oiseau, une diminution de l'expression des comportements tendant à assurer une cohésion interindividuelle (raréfaction des gazouillis, des cris de blottissernent), ainsi qu’une augmentation de ceux provoquant une distanciation entre congénères (évitement, agression). Nous avons pu dégager quatre étapes dans la comparaison synchrone entre le développement génital et l'évolution des comportements sociaux. Le développement sexuel provoqué par l'allongement de la photophase ne s'accompagne pas chez les femelles de l'apparition de nouveaux cris comme cela avait été remarqué pour les mâles. Par contre, des comportements caractéristiques de sollicitation sexuelle émergent : observation cou sinueux, approche et passage sous la poitrine du mâle, attaque rituelle douce. Une diversité interindividuelle stable a aussi été mise en évidence au niveau de la qualité et de la quantité des vocalisations émises par les femelles. Laboratory researchs bears on the development of an international reference of Azolla, with the view of selecting strains adapted to various environments, the criteria of fixing N2 in presence of combined nitrogen, appetency… In the field, adaptation trials followed by on farm introductions are performed in various african (and carribean) écologies ; three concrete cases are presented with emphasis on the positive results as well as on the major limiting factors restricting Azolla valorization. The report concludes with some proposals for future action.
