La période concernée est replacée dans le cycle climatique würmien et caractérisée du point de vue des associations animales. Il est rappelé que la paléogéographie européenne est très différente suivant que l'on se place aux environs de 18000 ans BP ou vers 11000 BP, dates qui représentent respectivement le début et la fin de l'ère magdalénienne. Au cours de ces 7000 ans, le milieu animal ne cesse d'évoluer mais les grands changements ont lieu au Tardiglaciaire, la rupture d'équilibre faune glaciaire — faune tempérée se situant lors de la période qui couvre le Dryas II et le début de l'Alleröd. This study concerns changes in the geographical distribution of Mammals, and in particular those which were hunted by human groups during the Magdalenian. The period in question is part of the Würmian climatic cycle. It is recalled that the European palaeogeography varies greatly between c 18000 years BP and € 11000 years BP that is at the beginning and the end of the Magdalenian period respectively. During the seven millenium, the environment continued to evolve but the major changes had taken place in the Late Glacial, the rupture in the balance between glacial and temperate fauna having occurred during the period including Dryas II and the beginning of Alleröd.
