(âge calibré) utilisèrent des roches siliceuses d’origine très diverses pour la confection de leurs outils et armatures. En dehors des matériaux autochtones (silex thanétien) et régionaux (silex du versant nord de la Montagne Noire et des Corbières maritimes), on observe, par ordre de fréquence décroissante, la présence de matériaux originaires du Bassin rhodanien (silex bédoulien), du Périgord (silex maestrichtien et sénonien), et de l’Agenais (silex campanien et turonien). On note également quelques échantillons de silex chalossien et de jaspe poitevin pour se limiter aux roches précisément déterminées. The Magdalenians who occupied Gazel cave around 15.000 cal BC used siliceous rocks from a wide variety of sources to make their tools and armatures. Beside local materials (Thanetian flint) and regional ones (flint from the northern side of the Montagne Noire and from the Corbières maritimes), one observes, in order of decreasing frequency, the presence of raw materials coming from the Rhône Basin (Bedoulian flint), from the Périgord (Maastrichtian and Senonian flint), and from Agen area (Turonian and Campanian flint). The presence of a few specimen of Chalosse flint and jasper from the Poitou is also noteworthy.
