Spectroscopy of consciousness

TGD based quantum measurement theory predicts that each quantum jump involves a localization in zero modes giving rise to ordinary quantum measurement followed by a state preparation by self measurements leading to an unentangled product state. The sequence of quantum jumps defines a statistical ensemble and this suggests strongly a connection between the theory of qualia and thermodynamics. Sensory qualia can be divided to purely geometric ones represented by the average increments of zero modes (quantum measurement) and to non-geometric ones represented by average increments of quantum numbers (state preparation). Emotional qualia can be assigned to the entropic gradients associated with quantum jump sequence. The hypothesis about manysheeted ionic flow equilibrium involving superconducting magnetic flux tubes explains the strange effects of ELF em fields on living matter and the observations challenging the notions of ionic pumps and channels. Together with the padic length scale hypothesis it leads to the notion of spectroscopy of consciousiness explaining the resonance frequencies of EEG and correlating EEG bands and brain structures with the structure of the periodic table.

Topological Geometrodynamics: an Overall View

A brief summary of the basic ideas of Topological Geometrodynamics (TGD) is given with a special emphasis on the most recent mathematical developments. There are several first principle approaches to quantum TGD. The basic dynamical objects are light-like 3-surfaces which means a generalization of the conformal symmetries of super string models and implies a parton level formulation of quantum TGD as an almost topological quantum field theory with discrete symplectic fusion algebras playing a key role in the formulation of theory. The notion of finite measurement resolution realized in terms of inclusions of hyperfinite factors of type 111 can be also taken as a fondamental dynamical principle. Associativity -in both number theoretical sense and in the sense of conformal field theories -and number theoretical universality stating that the scattering amplitudes make sense in both real and p-adic number fields define further principles of this kind. All these approaches lead to the notion of number theoretical braid meaning discretization at space-time level. The notion of operad is tailor made for formulating the notion of finite measurement resolution and rather precise formulation of generalized Feynman diagrammatics emerges in this framework.

Is Dark Matter Quantum Coherent in Astrophysical Scales?

There exists a considerable evidence that astrophysical objects obey quantization rules with a gigantic value of Planck constant. Nottale and Da Rocha explain the findings in terms of fractal hydrodynamics modellable in terms of Schrödinger equation with an effective Planck constant whose general form is fixed by Equivalence Principle. In this article an interpretation as a genuine quantum effect based on quantization of Planck constant allowing dark matter to be quantum coherent in astrophysical scales is discussed. The model predicts correctly the value of the velocity parameter appearing in the gravitational Planck constant and explains the appearance of its harmonics and sub-harmonics. A quantum model for the formation of planetary system is proposed. Some numerical coincidences support the view that quantum coherent dark matter could be also responsible for the properties of living matter.

Macro-Temporal Quantum Coherence, Quantum Spin Glass Degeneracy and Number Theoretic Information Concept

The basic objection against quantum consciousness theories js that de-coherence times for macroscopic quantum states are quite too short, and it indeed seems that standard physics does not allow macro-temporal quantum coherence. In the Universe predicted by Topological Geometro-Dynamics (TGD) situation is different. Many-sheeted spacetime and quantum spin glass degeneracy imply that the lifetimes of macroscopic quantum states are much longer than predicted by standard physics. The thermodynamic, energetic, and information theoretic aspects of macrotemporal quantum coherence are discussed with emphasis on the implications of the number theoretic information measures emerging naturally in quantum TGD.

Biosystems as Macroscopic Quantum Systems

Macroscopic quantum phases are an absolutely essential element of most quantum consciousness theories and topological geometrodynamics (TGD) is not an exception in this respect. TGD based theory of consciousness relies crucially on the notion of self hierarchy whose geometrical correlate is the hierarchy of spacetime sheets realized as a 4-surface in certain 8-dimensional space. The notion of manysheeted spacetime predicts new types of macroscopic quantum phases but the lack of direct experimental evidence for the macroscopic quantum phases has been stumbling block for more detailed developments. The crucial empirical ingredient turned out to be the observations about the effects of ELF electromagnetic fields on brain. The largest effects are obtained at odd multiples of cyclotron frequencies of various biologically important ions like Ca++ in Earth's magnetic field. Also amplitude modulation of RF and MW fields by these frequencies has effects. This leads to a surprising conclusion in violent conflict with standard physics view about world: magnetically confined states of ions in Earth's magnetic field having minimal size of order cell size and energy scale of order E-14 eV are in question. The notion of manysheeted spacetime indeed allows these states: various ions are 'dropped' to cellular spacetime sheets where the thermal noise is absent so that the ions nm form superconducting macroscopic quantum phases. The model suggests what might be called spectroscopy of consciousness allowing to identify important EEG frequencies as correlates of various primary sensory qualia and EEG patterns as correlates of emotions.
